Earthquake South of Fiji Islands Recorded by BC-ESP

Our BC-ESP seismographs recorded a magnitude 7.8 earthquake from South of the Fiji Islands on December 9, 2007.

Earthquake in Martinique: Recorded by BC-ESP

On November 29 at 19:00:19 UTC time a magnitude 7.4 earthquake occurred in the MARTINIQUE REGION, WINDWARD ISLANDS, CARIBBEAN.

Here is the seismogram recorded by our AS1 seismograph located at Weston Observatory:

 


The earthquake occurred in a part of the lithosphere that has been subducted beneath the eastern edge of the Caribbean plate. Due to the great depth (145 km) the surface waves are not a prominent feature of the seismogram.
