General Bb Vista Information

Blackboard Vista is a web-based application used to make and host course web sites. Simply, you log into the Vista application using a web browser, you edit your course site by clicking on buttons and completing forms, and then you log out. Your students log into Bb Vista, click on your course and see the site you have created. They can interact with it, but they cannot make changes to it unless you allow them to.

The tools included with Bb Vista are its strongest suit. All Bb Vista course sites are automatically password protected, and students get individual accounts. Bb Vista includes discussion boards and chat rooms, online quizzes and surveys, a grade book, a calendar and other tools that are difficult to implement on regular (free-form) web sites.

Bb Vista is a redesigned, more robust version of WebCT Campus Edition, BC's previous course management system. WebCT is the company name and Campus Edition is the application name. In 2006, Blackboard bought WebCT. Hence, the name change to Blackboard Vista.
